Local students of La Junta, Colorado are participating in a project that virtually recreates the Bent's Old Fort, which is Colorado's one of the renowned tourist attractions. Immersive Education is the benefactor behind this project. Immersive Education uses a popular game called Minecraft to start; they plan to advance to using more sophisticated engineering programs as the proceed to further steps. The club is comprised of 20 students from La Junta High School and Otero Junior College. In their meetings they strive to build a virtual, three dimensional tourist attraction. The IT director of the club noted that the simple idea of Bent's Fort being accessible by somebody in even Japan amazed him.

The club is currently in its toddler stage, familiarizing its members with 3D building structures through Minecraft. After using Minecraft, the students proceed to an architectural program called Autocad and Autocad 3D. The National Park Service is fully supporting the club's initiative.
This is an assignment from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Collaborative Computing. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
