A non-profit organization named Immersive
Education is sponsoring students and engineers to virtually recreate a 1830s - 1840s
trading post on the old Santa Fe Trail, the Bent's Old Fort. Immersive
Education Initiative mentioned that the reconstructed Bent's Old Fort will be
constructed based upon the ever-popular game Minecraft and other engineering
software.
Students from Colorado are cooperating with
Stanford's Architecture Design Program to create an "immersive Bent's Old
Fort." Once the construction is completed, Immersive Education Initiative
plans to make this virtual historic site readily available and free of charge,
in efforts to sharing the limited opportunity to the global audience. They are
also expecting positive synergy effect with the in-person tours conducted
on-site, along with their virtual tours.
This is an
assignment from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston
College. The course is called Collaborative Computing. For details, visit the
immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc
